ACG Handbook on Mine Fill

The Australian Centre for Geomechanics is delighted to launch the comprehensive and informative:  ‘Handbook on Mine Fill’.

The use of mine fill is old as mining itself.  Future land use considerations and evolving community attitudes demand that the mining industry explores the use of fill, particularly fill generated from mining waste in a diverse range of underground and surface operations.

Recognising that there was no publication dedicated to recording the evolution of fill technologies and application, ACG director Professor Yves Potvin collaborated with leading fill experts, including Andy Fourie and Ed Thomas, to create a concise summary of the considerable body of mine fill knowledge and experience.  This 180 page hard bound publication will provide a one stop mine fill reference for mining engineers and those responsible for the application of fill.

Please find enclosed a book review by worldwide leading fill authority, Dr David Stone, MineFill Services Inc. USA.

‘Handbook on Mine Fill’ content:

  • Fill materials
  • Soil mechanics of mine fill
  • Mine fill fluid mechanics
  • Hydraulic fill
  • Paste fill
  • Rock fill
  • Hazards, risk and environment
  • Emerging technology and future research

The ACG gratefully acknowledges the book sponsors: Cobar Mine Management, CSA Mine and WMC Resources Ltd.
