Future Publications

The ACG team and its associated organisations and individuals are currently creating the following publications to be launched in the near future. For an update regarding any of the following publications please contact the ACG.

Caving 2010

The focus of The Second International Symposium on Block and Sublevel Caving will be on the growing popularity of caving methods around the world. This is largely due to the very low production cost and the intrinsic safety associated with this mining approach.

The themes of the 2010 symposium are:

  • Draw control/material flow
  • Geomechanics of caving mines
  • Numerical modelling
  • Planning and design of caving mines
  • Preconditioning
  • Seismic monitoring and caving mines
  • Subsidence

A hardbound publication comprising of the papers presented at the Caving 2010 symposium will be available to purchase from the ACG.

Mine Waste 2010

2010 sees the first in a series of events focusing on the management of tailings and mine waste. The First International Seminar on the Reduction of Risk in the Management of Tailings and Mine Waste will tackle the full range of issues that constitute risks in the management of mining wastes, particularly tailings and waste rock.

A number of themes will be covered, including:

  • Improvements in design of tailings storage facilities
  • Dam break analysis: appropriate tools and calibrated case studies
  • The application of geosynthetics in mine waste management
  • New approaches to the management of waste rock
  • Sustainable closure and the concept of designing for perpetuity
  • Improved management and operational strategies to minimise risk

A hardbound publication comprising of the papers presented at Mine Waste 2010 will be available from the ACG.

Paste 2010

The 2010 International Seminar on Paste and Thickened Tailings will focus on discussing how the scientific advances made in the application of paste technology can improve the ability of various industries, in addition to mining, to manage their mineral waste streams.

The 2010 seminar will bring together practitioners, researchers, educators, operators and suppliers from:

  • Mining
  • Oil and Gas
  • Power Generation
  • Land Development
  • Finance

The goal of the seminar is to provide a thought-provoking forum which allows professionals from these diverse industries to discuss and understand the application of best available paste technology practices, how these applications can enhance their operations and, ultimately, how paste technology can improve our world.

A hardbound publication comprising of papers presented at the seminar will be available to purchase from the ACG.

Deep Mining 2010

As the mining idustry is facing new challenges in order to extract the mineral resources at increasing depths, the Deep Mining International Seminar series provide a forum for the industry, academics and researchers to share information, experience and ideas on deep and high stress mining.

The 5th International Seminar on Deep and High Stress Mining will focus on the following areas:

  • Planning and design
  • Ventilation
  • Blasting
  • Risk and safety
  • Geophysics
  • Seismicity and seismological analysis
  • Numerical modelling
  • Ground support and ground behaviour
  • Observations and monitoring
  • Case studies

A hardbound publication comprising of papers presented by mining professionals at the seminar will be available to purchase from the ACG.
