The First International Seminar on Safe and Rapid Development Mining provided a timely opportunity to address many of the pressing issues associated with the design and implementation of safe and rapid development. Topics addressed included: equipment utilisation, numerical modelling, scheduling, innovative ground support, early age shotcrete, the influence of hydrogeology on rapid development, and drill and blast issues. Operator training was also addressed with particular reference to the use and placement of shotcrete.

The proceedings of SRDM 2009 features 22 papers that were presented at the seminar held in Perth, Western Australia, 6-7 May 2009.
