The Australian Centre for Geomechanics presented a specialist International Symposium on Rock Slope Stability in Open Pit Mining and Civil Engineering in Perth in September 2007. Co-chairs Dr Yves Potvin (ACG) and Dr John Read (CSIRO) presented an innovative symposium exploring the significant developments in the design, analysis, excavation and management of rock slopes.

Slope Stability 2007 provided a forum for mine owners and operators, consultants, civil engineers, suppliers and researchers to exchange views on how to promote best practices in slope stability monitoring and management. In today’s highly competitive and environmentally accountable world the exchange of knowledge is a necessity.
